Psychic Powers
Psychic powers add an additional level of complication to the game. If you feel confident enough that you can remember how many powers you have left, and how your hits are affected by the powers, then read on!
All Venusians have a latent level of psychic ability at birth. Only a specific few develop these powers beyond a basic level during childhood and on towards adulthood. Those who are psychic to such a level see themselves as being ‘gifted’ and as such, are arrogant towards those who are not gifted in such a way. There have been legends and rumours of some Venusians doing greater powers, such as changing the very environment around them, or crippling Scavenger invaders with a single hand wave. Such hearsay is promoted by the Venusians as it dissuades invaders and allows them a greater level of respect from Terrans and Martians.
Psychic powers can be used a limited number of times per adventure at no cost, and then they use their own hits to ‘push’ themselves to use their psychic powers.
All Venusians can use 3 basic powers and 1 intermediate power per day at no cost. These powers are chosen at character creation. If a basic power is used beyond this 3 per-event limit, the Venusian permanently loses a hit point that cannot be recovered that event. If an intermediate power is used beyond this 1 per –event limit, the Venusian takes off two hit points that cannot be recovered that event. If a major power is used beyond the number allowed per event, the Venusian takes off three hit points that cannot be recovered at that event. Venusian skill upgrades may allow you to use a greater array of powers or use powers more times without ‘pushing’
Unless said otherwise, ranged effects have a range of 10 metres, and buff abilities have a duration of 10 minutes You use powers by saying the following:

Minor Powers
- Minor Heal: the Venusian heals two points of damage from anyone he lays hands on. This will stop bleeding.
- Gust of Wind: the Venusian can call a single STRIKEDOWN.
- Minor Shield – self-targeting: the Venusian can call a ‘shield’ against any ranged/melee attack. This renders the attack ineffective and the Venusian takes no ill effect from the damage or a special call. This power is different in that it is used as a reaction to an attack rather than cast when the Venusian decides – the relevant call is (SHIELD) (RANGED/MELEE)
- Strength of the Martian – self-buff: the Venusian gains the ability to call double damage with a melee weapon
- Eyes of the Eagle – self-buff: the Venusian gains the ability to call double damage with a ranged weapon for 10 minutes.
- Fingers of Ice: the Venusian can call a single DISARM. This is the only instance where disarm does not need to make contact with the weapon/arm of the target.
- Fear Me: the Venusian can call a single REPEL.
- Force Bolt: the Venusian can call a single ranged attack of DOUBLE DAMAGE.
- Recover Health – self-buff: the Venusian heals for three points of damage.
Intermediate Powers
- Gift of Stone: the Venusian can call a single PARALYSE
- Major Heal: the Venusian heals three points of damage from anyone he lays hands on. This will stop bleeding.
- Overcharge: the Venusian can buff a ranged weapon to make it call +1 damage
- Strengthen Limbs: the Venusian can buff someone to make them call +1 damage with melee weapons
- Regeneration – self buff: the Venusian heals for five points of damage.
- Blast of Flame: the Venusian may call a single attack of TRIPLE DAMAGE
- Teleport: the Venusian may call a TIME FREEZE, and move 5 steps to a different location.
- Invisibility – self buff: the Venusian becomes invisible to all players and monsters for 30 seconds, or until he takes any sort of action except for walking/running.
- Reflect: works as shield, but reflects all damage and special calls back to the attacker.
- Deflection: the Venusian may cast this on himself or another player. For the next 5 minutes, that player has damage reduction 1 (ie: if a TRIPLE damage is called against him, he only takes a DOUBLE damage) down to a minimum of single damage.
- Fumble: the Venusian can call a single MASS DISARM
Major Powers
- Flow of Vigour: the Venusian may cast this on himself or another player. For the next 5 minutes, that player has damage reduction 2 (ie: if a TRIPLE damage is called against him, he only takes a single damage) down to a minimum of single damage.
- Lions Roar: the Venusian can call a MASS Strikedown
- Destruction: the Venusian can call a QUAD Damage
- True Regeneration: the Venusian regenerates ALL (non-permanent) damage. If the Venusian is reduced to zero hits, this ability AUTOMATICALLY activates and returned the Venusian to current full hits (modified for permanent damage)
- Breach Time: the Venusian may call a TIME FREEZE, and move 10 steps to a different location.
- Greater Invisibility – the Venusian may perform limited actions when under the effects of invisibility. This lasts for one minute. Please consult with a ref before performing the action to make sure it can be done successfully.
- We will consider submissions of minor, intermediate and major powers from players.
